Description

Following a summary of the current applications for friction stir welding at Boeing, the Brotje Automation FSW system is introduced. Presentation slides give notes on complex contour FSW in a large work envelope, the characteristics of a robust production system, and motion platform capabilities, plus details of the weld head, tool mounting system, data acquisition and process control system, and roller system. Bead on plate FSW of humped plate is demonstrated.
