Friction stir welding is widely applied in several industries such as manufacturing rolling stock, automotive parts and ship building. Especially, EV will be expected to popularize in these two or three decades in view of reducing CO₂. The parts of EV such as battery case, inverter case and their heat exchangers are used aluminum alloys. In case of fabricating these components, friction stir welding is widely applied in Japan. However, engineers who belong to production technology or quality assurance have few experiences of friction stir welding. So, it is required to educate them friction stir welding technology. By the way, thermal phenomena during friction stir welding is becoming clear by use of Multi-lntelligence (MI). This Ml monitors temperature distribution at probe during friction stir welding and temperature profiles indicates imperfections induced or not. It is available for certification of friction welding operator and welding procedure qualification in corporate with ISO25239.
